Jerry del Missier

Former COO of Barclays

Mr. del Missier is a former Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Barclays Bank Plc and was a member of the bank’s Executive Committee. Mr. del Missier joined Barclays in June 1997 as Head of Derivatives and in subsequent years went on to assume responsibility for the Trading, Sales and Research functions. In addition, in 2003 he was also appointed Regional Head of Europe for Barclays Capital.
He was appointed Co-President of Barclays Capital in 2005 and in 2008 moved to New York to become Barclays Capital President and Regional Head of the Americas. In 2010, Mr. del Missier became Co-Chief Executive of Corporate and Investment Banking, before becoming the bank’s COO in June 2012. He also served as Chairman of the bank’s Execution and Operating Committee and was a member of its Treasury Committee and various Governance and Control Committees. Prior to Barclays, he was at Bankers Trust in London as a Senior Managing Director of Derivatives Products, responsible for the European business. Previously, he was based in Toronto, Canada, responsible for the Canadian Dollar interest rate derivatives business.
Before Bankers Trust, he worked for Bank of Nova Scotia. Mr. del Missier is a past Chairman of the Board of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), and served on the Boards of the Global Financial Markets Association (GFMA); the Markets Management Group (MMG) of the International Institute of Finance (IIF); the British American Business Council; and the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA). He currently serves on the Board of Room to Read, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Sutton Trust and the Maple Leaf Trust in London, and the Advisory Board of the Smith School of Business (SSB) at Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada. He is also the Chairman of the SSB Fundraising Campaign in addition to being a past member of the Queen’s University Board of Trustees. Mr. del Missier founded Copper Street Capital in July 2015 and is responsible for overseeing all investment activities within the firm and setting the firm’s strategic direction. He graduated with a BSc (Chemical Engineering) and an MBA from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada.
